its not really a big deal though, north america, central america, and south amerca all have access to the waters. gulf of americas makes more sense that gulf of mexico. though tbh idc

Sure doesn't honestly matter to me. But it's just one of those clear things that didn't need attention right now and it's an outlandish thing to allocate any time to but that's not the point, the point is to keep bombarding with these random things.

That's my opinion on these seemingly random things anyways.

We should have opened it up for bidding rights. We'd balance our budget with the new Gulf of MetLife

Makes as much sense as anything. It's what we do with taxpayer funded sports stadiums and coliseums.

Mexico can go fuck itself.

But in reality, it had done that.

Trump did say that he didn’t rule out sending the military down there.

Probably, it would be the best thing for the Mexican people.

It was named "Gulf of Mexico" by Europeans back when Spain still owned Mexico.

It was called that because it was the Gulf that Europeans had to cross to transport goods to and from Mexico.

These days, Mexico is a sovereign nation, and the Gulf of Mexico is widely used to ferry goods to and from both the US AND Mexico.

It's the primary gulf of the Americas. Therefore, the Gulf of America.

If Europeans want to use different names on their maps, feel free. Do you still call it Constantinople?

Well I do but that's because I wear a greathelm 24/7 and end all my posts with Deus Vult.
Honestly I don't think I've used Istanbul once in a conversation without adding 'not Constantinople' and 'nobodies business but the turks'

Fact is, shit's renamed all the time. Europeans have no say over what Americans (speaking all the people's of the Americas, not Citizens of the US) call their Geography. If Europeans want to still call it the Gulf of Mexico, they can feel free. Likewise, Mexico is free to continue calling it the Gulf of Mexico if they want.

Seems to me the only real "controversy" over the rename would be the fact that google maps renamed it to "Gulf of America". That's what offense has been taken by. But it's no shock. The US Government has officially renamed it to the Gulf of America. Google is a US company.

That's just sort of how that works.
