People who don't understand DEI are beyond saving because to them it's just a not-so-clever way to be racist. People who defend Trump tariffs I think are just genuinely confused and/or in denial or have no understanding of economics.

he hasnt even been president for a month yet. feel free to disagree with what hes doing, but its hard to really see how anything plays out at this point. i think everyone can have a better opinion by month 6. judging the first few weeks when nothing has really taken effect isnt really fair.

Tariffs are transitory if they are to be used at all.


In my part of the US, the tariffs have helped industries since the election result was announced. We like district 12 of hunger games. The key is to bring in domestic production so domestic manufacturing can actually be competitive.

The short term hurt seems worth it in my jurisdiction to help get us out of the 'tourist economy' circle the toilet train long death spiral we are on.

We could be mining, shipping the raw ore to the old refineries across the Great Lakes. Coastal engineering firms could be fabricating at scale. Ports in Chicago could be put back to use.

If Trump can't align the industries then the tariffs will be painful.



As for 401k, mine has already been halved by covid nonsense. Also comical one can run no tax bracket capital gains while the 401k taxed. It's always been a scam.

Americans deserve to suffer for electing Trump. Unfortunately this requires all of us to take part in the suffering.

Anyone relying on 401k’s or Social Security for their future retirement after 2000 are absolute morons. When you have a country repeatedly borrowing money from ITSELF then printing money it’s a sure sign that one day things like Social Security won’t exist. As the Baby Boomers have retired and are waiting record times to receive benefits it’s a pretty understood notion that anyone not currently old enough to retire for another 15+ years will NOT receive those benefits in the US.

why not rely on a 401k? its money from you adn employer that hits stock market tax free. has nothing to do with social security or government programs
