Early versions of both winnie the pooh and mickey mouse have recently entered the public domain. Copyrights still expire.
Mickey mouse is still copyrighted
You can use steam boat Willie(the original Mickey mouse) who is the one who entered
Popeye enters next year
Copyrights and patents, in particular, are horrible, stifling progress and funneling wealth to those most willing and able to play legal games for 'IP rights'
I'm not a big fan of AI generated content, but one nice thing is we can take copyrighted images or text, for example, and run them through AI to 'launder' the IP through automatic permutation
Copy right is important especially into today's age.
Imagine you spend 2 years writing a book release it without copyright.for a company way larger to copy it then distribute it under there name not yours and take all the profits
Is that why you think we should get rid of copyright so companies get to do that all they want?
People think they are entitled to art like video games movies etc. for free and that's retarded, people spend their how life's working on something they should have the right to protect and monetize it if they want.
Non profit fan based stuff uses copyrighted stuff all the time without retaliation. They are uselly left alone by owners of copyright as long as they don't try to profit of their work.
