He established that team, like putting a guy who sued the epa six times in charge of the epa.

I’d absolutely put a guy who sued the epa in charge of the epa personally. I worked for the epa. In fact I got a large work related settlement from the epa. I’m disabled because of their practices.
Wrong guy to talk to about the epa. It’s such a trash agency even worse than the FBI.

Well trump disagreed because he replaced him, tillerson has very strong ties to Russia, seemed to be almost a requirement in that government.

Seems Trump announced Susie Wiles as Chief of Staff. In my opinion it’s a solid choice. Susie is a low key, professional woman who has a history of working well with opposing parties. A very strong and realistic negotiator and competent public strategist that hates being flamboyant or noticeable.

I find it strange however that Trump’s first announced staff is a woman. This is in sharp contrast to Biden who prefers to surround himself with men who think they are women.

The fact that she has been with Trump for many many years and this is the first time I've heard of her is a very positive sign.

She’s kind of a counterweight for his flamboyant nature. I’d argue he’d be A LOT more offensive if he didn’t have her to reign him in some.

A person who Trump trusts and allows to rein in his worst impulses would be one key puzzle piece for a successful 2nd term.

Absolutely. I personally like him. My major issue with him is he has no filter or ability to understand when to tone it down. He speaks off the cuff too much as if he is casually talking with his buddies.

My vote was 100% based on my family not being able to handle 4 more years of terrible prices for goods and groceries.

What did "reining in his impulses" get us from 2016 to 2020?

Trump's "impulses" are the correct policy. We absolutely DO NOT need any swamp creatures whispering in his ear again. She isn't one

Having no filter is his greatest strength and his greatest weakness. Him not being deliberate/strategic with it gets him into hot water all the time, but also lends him credibility and authenticity.
I gotta say though: the campaign he ran in 2024 was his best one by far, so I have hope that he has learnt from the mistakes of his 1st term and will be more effective and successful this time around. (And I already considered his 1st term quite successful and effective, covid aside.)

I said reining in his worst impulses.

For example that week or so, after the DNC switcheroo, when Kamala had become the nominee and he couldn't shut up about "she's not really black". Or in 2020, after the death of George Floyd, when he couldn't muster a word of empathy for the millions of Americans who were outraged and/or concerned about police violence and instead poured even more gasoline on the fire. Or in 2017, when he pushed ahead with the ""muslim ban"" without proper preparation, thus turning the correct policy into an utter mess which sapped his political capital right away.
