The term 'pro-choice' is utilized rather than 'pro-abortion' because it reflects the desire for people to have the freedom to choose what may be the best for their circumstances when pregnant as part of consultation with their own medical providers, family, and personal values. This includes the option for abortion, but it is only one option under a broad umbrella.
Additionally, a commonality between pro-life and pro-choice belief is that there is a desire to see the rate of abortion go down. There are differences, of course, in how people conceptualize actualizing upon that goal but the general goal is shared. The pro-choice mantra of "Safe, legal, and rare" embodies this truth and so describing oneself instead as "pro-abortion" wouldn't best convey what is actually felt, imo.
This is a state matter, and even if you debate this issue, most arguments are for pregnancies that can risk the mother/cases of rape. I actually agree that in the scenario it might be allowable, or even potentially a concession where if the mother doesn't want the child in cases of rape that they could be raised in an orphanage or put up for adoption. In case of risk to the mother, I think that is probably the cut case where it should be allowed
