This isn't a new thing, shitty game journalists have been a meme for literally a decade

At this point, woke journalists claiming that a video game or a movie is "lacking diversity" probably boosts sales. Kinda similar to how Top Gun: Maverick became the most successful movie of 2022 because it was unabashedly nonpolitical and devoid of woke virtue signaling.

This is such an awkward stance to have, diversity occurs naturally in video games and isn't a new concept, video games aren't "ignoring woke culture" they could not literally care less about what you're so worked up on lol. Every game receives backlash for some reason or another, wukong got massively hyped from proper advertisement, I literally couldn't stop hearing about it. Whereas this concord game? Literally wasn't in my adverts until a week after it released, and by your bigoted stance I should be the "core audience" lmao

I think people care less about woke stuff in games, and care more about games actually being good

games where the developers intentionally make them as woke as possible tend to be terrible games, because making a good game wasn't the priority

afaik Baldurs Gate 3 had woke stuff in it, but no one really cared because it was a great game

BG3 had a ton of lgbtq and other sexualized themes but as you say gamers didn't care. It's actually all about creating good content and not having the woke stuff be blatantly driving the story or be overtly forced in your face. When i played BG3, some of the gay romancing or whatever may not be my cup of tea but it didn't feel forced where it detracted from the story/game play. You can just overlook it and keep playing.

That's what these devs/companies need to understand. First and foremost create quality content and the other stuff falls into place. If you create shallow unoriginal trash and it's dominated by these contemporary themes don't cry about the 'toxic' community, it's a shit crutch.

I think having it be there as an option for people, but participation is not mandatory, is an okay middle ground for game companies to take to increase sales and player satisfaction to the segment of people that want it. Way back in 2009, Dragon Age, which is now universally lauded as one of the greats, was one of the first games (I think) to have gay romancing, but it was entirely optional and didn't take away from the story or game in general. BG3 seems to have learned from them well, others have not.

This topic isn't actually about woke in video games.
