There is value to the country and populace when there are many choices and expertise for things like infrastructure. Imagine if Google had their own Crowdstrike Microsoft moment and your backup system is Google site B. Your fd.

Edit also wouldn't tax man be able to take a cut for B2B transactions like selling ads or ad features. Maybe harder for Google to write off taxes with research growth nonsense

i think thats the only argument for the cost side, taxes to slowly claw back the cost it incurs to break them up. i still think they've got too much of a headstart on the tech side for breaking them up to bring much competition to the market in a lot of fronts. they won the search engine war 10 years ago and they've built an empire on it that we can't really contain by forcing them to split into divisions imo. unless there are some serious stipulations involved in monopoly breaking im unware of that would have more effect.

Hot take: that is merely a public "shot across the bow" to make sure Google continues to perform Democrat field tilting, as in the past. It will all go away after the election if the Dems win.

Do you think the government should take action against Google?

About 8-10 years ago, Google started censoring search results... because they could.
Back then, I thought the government should have stepped in.

Now... considering the politicized DOJ... they probably will step in, but for the wrong reasons.

Currently, the left doesn't seem to want openness... they want everyone drowned in left-ness.
