Europeans are disgusting, this wasn't some remote creek that a settlement runs their sewage to, France had sewage running to this river when the rest of the world (Except India) moved on long ago to septic and sewage systems.

Flint public works water treatment is responsible for the water problems in Flint, MI.
Lead water pipes are completely safe, most of Europe still has lead pipes, Lead forms an Oxide layer that prevents the lead from leeching out.
The same sort of thing happened a few years ago in Jackson, Mississippi when elected officials found a new cute new form of politics for joe biden and the midterms, by shutting off the water treatment plant and blaming the state level government while crying racism.
The Army Core of Engineers showed up and all they had to do was turn the production of clean drinking water back on.
They did have real and compounding problems too, but due to the demographics of who gets the nice government jobs it can be explained as another case like flint of corruption, and gross incompetence.
You may be interested to look into how the colorful politicians of Flint, MI has squandered away all the federal money sent to replace their lead pipes, and the situation remains the same today.

Real poor argument comrade. Rural villages in Russia don't have a sewer system because everything freezes solid in winter.

Alaska is dealing with the same problem which is why many households in rural Alaska still use honey buckets. No one in their right mind would bring this up as a counter argument in this topic SMH.

Paris is not a remote village in Siberia and the river Seine should not be full of human excrement simple as that.

Secondly those remote villages in Russia don't have to host the Olympic games, Sochi did in 2014. Everyone still remembers because it was well organized and spectacular

Paris city council spent $1.5 Billion to clean human waste out of the river Seine before the Olympics.

The question is why they still crap in the river in 2024. Thoughts?

Every triathlon needs a 1.5 B dollars cleanup before the event can take place?

The swimming part of olympic triathlon competitions typically takes place in lakes or the ocean, often times even outside of the host city. Beijing 2008 saw the triathlon swimming take place at the Ming graves, 50km outside of Beijing. London 2012 held them in a beautiful lake in posh Hyde Park, rather than the Thames. Rio 2016 held them at the famous Copacabana beach. Tokyo 2020 held them on an artificial island in the middle of Tokyo Bay.

Holding this competition in the major river of the host city is unusual. For obvious PR and tourism reasons, the French hosts wanted the footage of the competition taking place in front of the gorgeous Seine promenade.

You didn't answer the question. The answer is obviously no, it's not normal that they had to spend 1.5 B for a triathlon and the reason is because the river was full of E Coli.

And you're not gonna tell me that tourism reasons made them decide to spend 1.5 B and attract a lot of attention (including that of the tourists) that the Seine is in fact an open sewer.
