colonizing space would solve this and reduce human extinction more than green new deal fantasy.

Colonizing new planets is a highly complex and challenging endeavor due to several factors...

Gosh that LLM verbosity

I think a better response would be actually: why not both?

we cant do both, because for global warming we need to act NOW, we have time only until 2040-2050, while colonising planets (even if succesful) takes thousands of years. maybe even hundreds of thousands.

completely different timescale. Like when you have a fire in your house, you shouldn't think about getting fit at the gym.

I remember when travelling to the east, India, Vietnam , Cambodia..
seeing all the garbage, how they burn plastic and not to mention the emissions. that’s when I figured that the world is doomed.

I've read that before but there's nothing positive there I'm afraid.

The trend reverses because many places have become inhabitable at that time meaning it will be too late.

The trend reverses because:
1) people can actually avoid having children when they dont want it, and get a dog/cat instead.
2) we have created a system in which parents do not benefit much from having children, since all services are now state based, not family based.
3) children mean a lot of work and sacrifices
4) society expects parents to take a very good care of their children, and its not possible or very difficult in large families.

As an European I could afford to feed like 10 children or more, but thats not gonna happen. Some people dont have children, others have only 1 or 2, its uncommon for people to have 3 children or more.

We're talking about the total number of people not just the people that live in Europe or in the West.

People outside western world adopt same behaviour.
China is crashing.

Some other countries need more time than west or China, but its expected that world population will stop growing and start shrinking.

Like Ashirgo said, predictions are that the global population will grow for some time to come.

If you believe it or not is up to you.

For some time the population will be growing, but we already see India slowing down, so the next generation will be smaller there.
China is already declining, India aint growing any longer.
So population wont be a major problem.
But we do really need to make some sacrificies in our lifestyles, to limit emissions in order to stop the global warming.

Whether or not you believe it's a "natural cycle" and whether or not you believe it is "man made" the reality is that it is happening. Solutions are needed to maintain our way of life. Stop squabbling over whodunnit and unite on solutions.

If an asteroid was headed for earth, it would be a natural cycle. And yet we'd try to blow it out of the sky. I don't know if we get to blow cool shit up to keep the climate comfortable, but we gotta do something.

This is going to be very unpopular. It is known from research that individuals are very unwilling to alter their behaviour. You need to get governments to agree to regulate stuff and to (de)incentivise certain things. Eg. a higher tax on flight tickets will reduce the number of flights people book in a year. Shaming Taylor Swift for her private jet habits perhaps .. not sure how effective is that.
