Technically - ECB can’t straight up print euros and transfer them directly to French bank accounts, but they can repo French bonds though…

Markets are tightening French spreads:

I don't have a problem with tactical voting. If the argument is against disproportionate representation, then that's a problem in almost every representative system, see winner takes all elections in the United States or the recent debacle in the UK. A majority of the French voter base put communists in power. This will go about as well as the first time around, and French public finances are in the late stages of collapse, but they (literally) asked for this.

Debacle? The UK has functional stable governments due to the first past the post system. The transfer of power is seamless.

In contrast France will now enter months of uncertainty and negotiation.
They host the Olympics in 2 weeks and probably won't even have a prime minister

Ouch. That’s a pretty painful admission of ones intellectual capabilities. You didn’t understand anything of what I said, but felt compelled to comment? Stalking me again my Scottish fan?

They'll just issue more bonds and the ECB will buy them IMO. Tightening of risk spread to bunds is a positive, so I guess the market is taking it well that Le Pen's party won't take charge. I don't think the market believes the communist dumbasses will actually get their pie in the sky socialist wish list, otherwise that spread would be mooning.

The 2024 elections saw the Liberal party receive an overwhelming majority with the lowest vote share (for a majority) in history. That's a historically unrepresentative government. It's likely to be far less stable as a result, especially given that Labour has been handed a very difficult economic position, including an uncompetitive economy, large budget deficits, a crumbling NHS, and economic isolation from the EU.

Higher youth unemployment, increased costs of goods, mass wealth transfer to boomers, more slums, and shortages / scarcity of basic goods.
