Not only in France. In many Western countries it's the same. So called "progressive" politicians politicize things like for example slavery / women's rights / LGBTQ and so on.

When you point out to them that those Western countries are in fact the most liberal countries in the world and therefor those issues aren't a problem they will double down and call you populist or fascist.

The same with purple / blue hair individuals in the street thinking they're better than others and calling other people nazis simply for disagreeing with them.

Don't count your chickens before they hatch. The RN received "only" 33% of the vote in the first round of voting while the lefty Nouveau Front Populaire got 28% and Macron's Ensemble party got 23%. There will be plenty of runoffs in the second round next week which the opposition can win with ease if they cooperate. Macron and Attal are indeed pushing for such an anti-RN alliance with the lefties. The idea is that in each consituency, whichever party was weaker between NFP and EM will withdraw its candidate for the runoff and endorse the other against the RN. This would lead to significantly more seats for the lefties, so many figures from the pro-business wing of Macron's party are very reluctant, just like many figures from the NFP really don't want to withdraw their candidates and endorse Macron's guys.

Imho, it's still very unclear if the RN will actually be able to attain a majority.
