whoever supports nonsense like that clearly is not a democrat and the politicians dont understand the meaning of their job

the are voted into office to SERVE the people, their own feelings are irrelevant, whoever they want to work with or not becomes irrelevant

this is not the case anymore and thats why western democracies are mostly fucked

btw, the situations in belgium, france or germany are yet again proof that a democracy can only work in homogenous societies with clear groundrules that everyone respects

now left and right are discussioning what a woman is or if undocumented migrants should be able to enter a country

a cordon sanitaire is anti democratic, period

I'm not sure you understand the word Democracy.

please allow me to enlighten you.

Democracy is mob rule, he who has the bigger mob rules.

The majority rules over the minority.

i am not disputing that

however what i am saying is that the majority and minority still have to agree on most things for it to work

you cant have an almost 50/50 split like the US, not even remotely agree on most issues and still have a functional democracy

Democracy breaks down once compromise becomes impossible, and compromise does become impossible once the ideologies and worldviews of major groups in society become fundamentally incompatible.

It doesn't even take a foreign culture, like for example Muslims wanting to live according to shariah laws, for polarization to reach the breaking point. It's the obvious culprit, particularly in Western Europe, but even in ethnically and economically homogeneous societies like Poland or South Korea, you can easily run into this kind of pernicious polarization. (South Korea is currently seeing a gigantic polarization between young men and women.)

there are many forms of democracy

what you are talking about is pure democracy which was used back in Ancient Rome, more than 2000 years ago.

Currently the United States is a Representative Democracy. As it has been since its beginning.

Its important to actually learn things instead of basing all your wisdom from random facebook posts
