He just admitted to a felony today. He stole 30k from the trump administration and the DA knew about this, but needed him as a witness. The DA should now be investigated for helping a felon cover up fraud.

Oh no I was talking about letting Weisselberg testify is a bad idea. He's still fiercely loyal to Trump and it'd just muddy the case even more.

Letting someone testify that is currently serving time for Perjury is a pretty huge gamble, especially since he's still loyal to Trump and took the fall for him in March.

Interesting read. I personally think they will find him guilty of some of the 34 counts, not all, but I also think it will only result in a fine, and MAYBE a week probation. No jail time, this time.

He wasn't on trial, but if I know law enough, I believe he could be indicted for the admission, if the Trump team can prove it. Doubt it goes anywhere, though.

In recent news, the defense has rested their case without Trump taking the stand, even though he said he wanted to "but couldn't" (gag order did not stop him from taking the stand, even though he is on video lying that that is why he couldn't). His lawyers knew Trump would likely fumble something.

I was thinking of a hung jury too, but this sounds equally likely.

Do you think 34 counts is a comical amount for something like this?

I agree, getting a guilty verdict for all 34 counts is wishful thinking at best. I’m curious how many people change their tunes if he gets convicted considering he’ll officially be a felon. I’m also curious to see what would happen in regards to campaigning if he is given jail time.

Also ironic the man who said only guilty people invoke the 5th is refusing to testify. Very on brand for him though

An interesting take on the prosecution not having as strong a case as they could.

Putting Cohen on the stand as a star witness was more of a political stunt than a practical trial move. If they needed to care about winning this case, they wouldn't have done it. Of course it looked like a joke having him admit to stealing and lying, and then ask the jury to take his word- but it won't change the outcome, Trump will be convicted and given an outlandishly long sentence to tie up in appeals. The lesson was pretty well taught by the Chauvin and Potter trials when it comes to politically motivated prosecutions in extremely areas with militant juries itching for a reason to convict someone based on prejudice alone. At least in this case the appeals will scuttle it on such obvious glaring issues as 'no underlying crime and not under the statute of limitations' and 'criminalizing obeying the FEC's regulations in a blatant catch-22'. But again, political purposes will be served, the outcome is what they want, to have this conviction prior to the election

as a non-trump supporter, I think it is a comical amount, but also think it was done to make sure there was at least one guilty count for something. I think it will be used in political commercials that Trump cannot vote due to having a guilty felon verdict.

You and I both know that if they are still with Trump after all he has done and lied about (30k+ lies factually proven and counting) https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2021/01/24/trumps-false-or-misleading-claims-total-30573-over-four-years/, then they will not abandon him now. He really could k*ll someone on 5th avenue and not lose a vote https://www.cnn.com/2016/01/23/politics/donald-trump-shoot-somebody-support/index.html.

And yes, he did say that about the 5th while also pleading the 5th over 400 times https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2023/jan/31/trump-news-pleads-fifth-video-new-york-fraud-deposition

if you're trusting a source who spent however many years of their life quantifying the number of times trump has lied, you're missing the forest for the trees. firstly, think of the narcissistic lack of insight involved for the political establishment (biden, mainstream media, default liberals, institutions)--try to fathom the lack of self-awareness you'd need to have to think the establishment is acting in good faith or that they strive to be honest. dishonesty/deception has always been one of the core aspects of politics. you're trying to make trump out to be the bad guy and the best analogy i can think of is like this: you're mad at a professional boxer cuz he punches people and violence is bad.

the whole idea of having a "dishonesty metric" or some numbers you can point to to try to suggest that trump is egregiously dishonest compared to his adversaries--utterly absurd. i'm going to put you into the bucket of people who rely on google search results and the New York Times or the Atlantic--like you're taking all their propaganda at face value. biden is owned by lobbyists and the deep state. democrats have been dicking down the middle class for decades now. i would recommend some sources, but man, it'd be like telling my Southern grandfather to browse the dark net and tell everyone his personal info. he's been scammed before. you're like my grandfather--very vulnerable to scams, social engineering, propaganda. your best bet is to resign from political "research" or participation.

you start out trying to sound like you are of a high rationale, then you say shit like "deep state" and "default liberals"

kind of funny. only kind of.
