I prefer enrolling in phase 2/3 clinical trials so they can contribute back to society

But would still settle for the death penalty

I support it but I think there should be changes. I think it should only be used in the most extreme of situations, and in cases where there's 100% certainty that the person is guilty. There are plenty of legitimate concerns around the death penalty, but at the end of the day fuck Ted Bundy, fuck John Wayne Gacy and his shitty clown paintings, and fuck all the other assholes out there like them. The world is legitimately a better place with them no longer in it; I have absolutely no reservations about the state executing them and I'd be happy to see assholes like Dennis Rader and Gary Ridgeway join them.

Agreed, bullets are extremely cheap. We should go back to using the firing squad.

I unironically agree, although for different reasons. It's probably the most humane way to kill a guy. Studies generally find that lethal injection is a horrible way to die, whereas the firing squad is pretty much instant and (relatively) painless. Lethal injection as a method of execution gets fucked up more than any other method; the firing squad pretty much doesn't get botched. The only reason people think lethal injection is "peaceful" or painless or anything is because the first drug they inject is a paralytic.

estimated 4% of those sentenced to death are innocent.
U.S has fully exonerated over 190 people on death row.
How many did they actually miss?

This.

How many of you people in support of the death penalty are okay with getting a few wrong in order to get the rest?

I think we really work on getting that 4% down before mass utilized , and also save it for closed and shut cases where there is actually no ambiguity

I wonder how much of that is a function of antiquated technology.

I used to think that one life was too many, but at the same time the drug cartels clearly need to die.
