Taxing the middle class 60% but not including free university like that of European countries...

forcing vaccines, charging outrageous prices for food, rent, housing, the standard fare tbh... I don't understand my country any further. This isn't the Canada I was born into and lived for for over 40 years.

It's gotten absurd.

Where are you being taxed 60% as an effective tax rate?

Maybe a slight exaggeration but carbon tax is only going up, the CPP has gone up in 2024, Carbon tax pricing / service fees associated with gas delivery to homes has gone up.

These costs then raise the price of any deliverable items such as groceries, clothes, alcohol, electricity, etc etc.

2024 just started, check your next pay check. As a 60% charge you won't see it, you'll notice it after you pay the bills and have left in your accounts most likely though.

We're a population of 30 million, yet each household is paying thousands annually for carbon taxes alone. It's crazy.

I can only speak to Canada, mind you.

Yeah I’m American, but looking at specific provinces If you’re “effective” tax rate is 60%, this is firmly upper class

Interestingly we were just chatting about this today too

Do the math and properly determine the effective tax rate through analyzing all (all) taxes paid, including all indirect taxes paid (e.g. rent). It's somewhere in that range in BC.

Thanks for sharing, I am not in this forum often, it seems interesting.

I was doing really well until I got divorced, now I pay support payments, child support etc.

I feel Canada is spiraling down the toilet at this rate.

Single income households with children really feel it. :D

British Columbia maximum marginal is 54%, which means your effective is obviously going to be lower

So nobody middle class is paying 60% effective

What is Ontario's marginal tax rate? The tax rates in Ontario range from 5.05% to 13.16% of income and the combined federal and provincial tax rate is between 20.05% and 53.53%.

Still says it is 53.53%... I am still thinking of prices for everything being so much more due to delivery of services/articles to go with it most likely. Not just taxes.
