Gaetz is the Democrats' useful idiot who causes the Republican caucus to go up in flames, and he's either too stupid or too narcissistic to realize it.
On a more general note, it's time to bury this asinine idea that a minority of elected officials could force the majority of their peers, who are prefectly fine with the current fiscal policy, to accept large budget cuts via the empty threat of shutting down the government.
