parents are without even a shadow of a doubt the worst part about teaching. they are the bane of a teacher's existence, and far more problematic than even dumb govt. driven curriculum.

as to your kids being indoctrinated, its not something a good parent should worry about. dont send your kid to school a blank canvas and no one will be able to paint it a rainbow wearing furry.

You think people should quit their day jobs and change professions to counter people with extreme views taking over a particular field within society?

if you actually give a fuck then you could run as a schoolboabrd trustee and make a difference instead of just typing on adead forum like an asshole

but not everyone can be schoolboard trustee and while we do live in a democracy, if somebody wins by 51% of a vote, they still need to consider the voices of everyone. these people are doing something and exercising their right to make their voices heard, yet, they are being labelled as hateful - i do not think it is hateful at all. yes, there may be malicious people involved, but, some have genuine concerns which shouldn't be overlooked. canada is trying to accomodate everyone, but, by doing this, you are going to hurt somebody. instead of doing this, gov should not be accommodating anyone based on beliefs and leave it up to individual choices, homes, and have dedicated systems in place for people to get the help they need.

before this, it would be with a counsellor or dr. the same argument that pro-abortionist make is that these decisions are health care and should be between family and dr. why is it not the same here? because 1-2 students feel different why should everyone be forced into it?

if i am an asshole for posting on this forum, what does that make you for replying lol?

one can argue that it is the end result of this system where people are trained to be a part of, dont have time to actually be a parent, and then school becomes a replacement for proper guidance.

we need an overhaul of our school system and should be focused on teaching kids life skills that can actually help them function in life right out of highschool. right now our elementary and highschool education systems only teach kids how to be university students, and university only teaches how to be a student, not a contributor to society.

I have a young son, next year is kindergarten.
I don't want to hold him back or delay his experience in the school system meeting new friends, fun & learning.
I also won't subject him to the current curriculum as it stands.
We might end up Home Schooling instead.

I dont entirely disagree, and i like the idea of more life skills a lot. but anecdotally the worst parents my wife has are generally stay-at-home low income parents.

Dolly Parton is likely doing more for kids than anyone else with her free book program. most of the kids in my wife's program (3-4 year old special ed) live in a house with literally no books. they're more likely to have an iPad than a book, just one book.
