Furthermore, his strong affiliation with the religious right and his heartfelt hardline positions on abortion make him an easy target in a post-Roe world.

I literally can't think of a worse general election candidate for the GOP than Pence. Trump will at the very least get 44-45% of the popular vote and help his party win some key senate races in red states.

other than MAGA extreme right voters who will write in trump or sit out 2024, in that hypothetical, Pence still gets voted for heavily. Mitt Romney got 47% of the popular vote, but lost 332-206.

even so i expect Pence will get something like 5-10% of the votes in a primary. not terrible for a 3 man field where he's terribly outclassed.

Yeah, I didnt consider the primaries either, starting in 5 months, not sure if it can change alot from now (maybe?) but I think many europeans are ignoring how strong religion is in U.S.
