That's a fair point if a UAP lacks signs of construction.

If it were a UAP from a truly advanced space-faring species would we be able to recognize it as constructed? Thinking back to the fly-by of Oumuamua, probably just a fast-moving space rock but maybe? How would we be able to tell the difference?

Not sure, but it is hard for me to conceptualize coming across a UAP (that is the result of advanced space-faring species) that wouldn't have signs of construction.

Right, I get that, but it seems like something that is outside of our conceptualization could still have signs of construction. Would an indigenous person who has never seen a car, should they stumble upon one, think that it is organic in nature? Possibly, but I wonder.

very different example as you are describing humans who have the intellect but not the knowledge of modern cars and machinery, they could be capable learning. a significantly intelligent enough species would be completely incomprehensible for humans, like an ant vs human.
