The Turkish people made their choice, and by the looks of it, it wasn't all that close. So be it, now they have to live with the outcome.
Erdogan is awful, but the alternative was a charisma-less, old apparatchik who wasn't able to win over any Erdogan-voters. I already knew that the outcome of this election was sealed when Ekrem Imamoglu, the mayor of Istanbul, was arrested on flimsy charges and barred from running for the presidency. Erdogan's allure is dwindling, but not by enough to defeat him with a milquetoast, Biden-esque replacement-level candidate.
It's not a great situation over there honestly.
Erdogan basically has two choices. Raise interest rates and cut benefits to the public to stop inflation, which will be really unpopular, or continue to allow the death spiral of their currency, which will also be unpopular.
He basically squandered the wealth of the nation in the form of its USD reserves on propping up the Lira so he could win the next election, and they're all gonna pay the price for it.
