id say france assistance was crucial in the american revolucion because the french navys blockade of british ports prevented british troops from receiving supplies+reinforcemnts. also france provided stuff like financial aid and troops to support the americans.
but i would find it unfair to reward only the french for it because other countries like us spaniards were also involved and contributed for american revolucion. we secretly provided supplies and gunpowder to the continental army and declared war against britain, launched miliatry campains in the gulf coast and mississippi river areas. diverted british resources and helped the american cause by doing that. i can give you another example in siege of pensacola which led to the capture of a british fort and weakened british control over florida.

i dont mean to put spain in the foreground with my post but as a spaniard i know our history better just like you probably know the history of your country better. but several countries contributed to this and not just france.

I am sure the netherlands was also essential to the American revolution because they stayed neutral and provided supplies and assistance as well.

I am not American by the way. Just want to broaden my horizons.
