First of all, I am not religious or god believing in any shape, form or way and I do not try to argue over someone's existence. This is really just out of curiosity and for gathering information for a project of mine.

I speak of all the gods of the ancient greek/roman/egyptean/nordic and so on mythologies. Those are widely considered just as parts of great old stories nowadays, no religion really revolves around Odin, Raa, Zeus or Jupiter and no one would ever argue over the existence of Thor, Horus, Apollo or whatever....or am I wrong?

Are there people still believing in those "story gods"? Anyone knows that?

I just ask because of a study I am working on, thats all. Trying to collect some more or less relevant data and opinions from all possible sources I can think of :-)

In the absolute sense you are wrong, there are still pockets of people practicing actual pagan religions with multigod and a plethora of people feigning the same. W/e mystery study you are doing, consider Shamanistic religious practices like Sami artic portal drum thumpers and rune stone creators.

In the early days of science, science was defined as the search for truth where ever it may lead. Anti theists in their arrogance and pride assumed they would get rid of God this way. This has completely failed. So in the spirit of rebellion the definition has been changed to "the study of the natural and physical world ONLY" attempting to remove God by force of new definition. But wait? Has there been a oversight?
The bible ,undeniably, is in the natural and physical world, ok? let us apply the scientific method (observation,experimentation/testable,repeatable) to it and attempt to summarize it.

We see the bible........... observation
We test the word, become convinced, repent and become christian..... experimentation
Happens every generation..........repeatable

The bible is a collection of 66 books written over a period of approximately 1400-1500 years in 3 different languages across 3 continents by over 40 different authors from every walk of life (from a kings throne to prison cell). Most of whom never knew each other and many of which died a horrible death rather than deny their faith. With no historical errors or contradictions, coming together in one single unified harmonious message.

A common message of salvation is available to all who repent of their sins and commit to following God with all their heart, soul, strength and mind.

To prevent confusion: The study I am talking about is not a professional one which gets openly published or anything. I am teacher and some of my students came up with this.
Its a study called "Popular but Forgotten" which sounds like
a contradiction, I know.

Its about originally religious figures which found their way into popculture in a way and how they are treated besides those popular views.

English is obviously not my native language and its pretty hard for me to describe it all the way I want to, but I think you guys get where I am coming from?

Please keep the bible out if possible, this is not about christianity or truth.
