Have Canada gone too far ?

"The College of Psychologists of Ontario, a governing body for psychological practitioners, has as its mandate “to protect the public interest by monitoring and regulating the practice of psychology” — and to govern political speech, too, it seems.

Jordan B. Peterson, a member of the CPO, was sent a disciplinary letter requiring him to “review, reflect on and ameliorate [his] professionalism in public statements” by completing a re-education program. Peterson wrote on Twitter formally indicating his “refusal to comply,” which he has done by filing an application for judicial review with the Ontario Divisional Court.

This is not the first time Peterson has run into demands made on how he uses his speech. In 2016, he launched to fame after he refused to comply with Canadian compelled speech codes, as they related to transgenderism. “Why should your right to freedom of speech trump a trans person’s right not to be offended?” Cathy Newman, a British TV presenter, asked him in a 2018 interview. “Because in order to be able to think, you have to risk being offensive,” Peterson replied.

Yes any "limiting" of speech is too much if it is done by the government. If I read this right it is part of the CAN government?

But here is an excerpt from his letter to Trudeau.

"The Ontario College of Psychologists, the provincial government-mandated and supported professional body charged with regulating the practice of clinical psychology, is requiring that I undergo a lengthy course of “media training” so that I “more appropriately” conduct my online communication. This is occurring, by the way, despite my 20 years as a research psychologist at Harvard University and the University of Toronto (with an unblemished behavioural reputation), my extensive clinical experience and my history of bringing psychological knowledge to people around the world.

It is not a government body , but it is a government mandated professional body so I am not sure how big a difference it is by saying the government is trying to silence him or a government mandated body is try to re educate him.

It is different than the government targeting him directly, but it is ultimately the result of previous government legislation.

The government makes the rules but each province or territory has a organization charged with enforcing them and licensing based on them so in theory they have some leeway with interprations and enforcement.

I wouldn't doubt that according to their current rules Peterson is in violation, but the complaints have also been filed by people who were never clients of his as a professional psychologist.

He hasn't been able to actually practice as a psychologist since he became famous so the only affect losing it will have is that the people who dislike him will say "see, he is a fraud, he lost his license"

Jordan has an Army to defend him... Video documentations, students, clients... he's an open book. The government policies definitely won't convince anybody the kind of man he is. Whatever the outcome is. I'm rooting for him to win. Bureaucratic bs

Im not on Petersons side for most things but they are wrong about how that interview went. peterson face skull fucked her and there was nothing left of her (metaphorically) before Peterson mentioned the risk of being offensive line.
