Kyrsten Sinema is no longer a Dem. She claims it was a principled move, but the writing has been on the wall in AZ for a while now.

Why wouldn't she? Joe Manchin spent the last 2 years as the unofficial Emperor of America. Now that PA elected brain damaged Sling blade, America has room for another.

If it's any consolation, I never believed the Fetterman pickup would dramatically change the outcome, and neither will this. All these pie in the sky things Democrats salivate over such as adding DC as a state, packing the court, making it illegal to talk about election fraud, sorry, you weren't going to get them anyway. Just like how we couldn't get one lousy wall built when we were supposedly in control.

It was natural rejection. Democrats have the majority, republicans will no be able to pass anything.

White House playing it cool.

Basically it's a move to avoid a primary and force Democrats not to run a candidate in Arizona in 2024. Pragmatists are usually good at politics.

At least she has no path to reelection now.

Good for her. The democratic party is disgusting and she didn't give into demands of blind party loyalty.

At least she has no path to reelection now.

She probably hopes that her reelection campaign will raise her profile one last time before she fucks off to sit on some consulting firm or corporate board.

She might have a path though if Republicans nominate a horrible, unpalatable candidate (likelihood: quite high) and Democrats run some far-left loon (likelihood: low to mid).

My favorite description of Fetterman is "AOC in Shrek's body".

Well, Trumpism is about policy, not adherence to the Trump cult, so it won't be possible for Arizona to nominate Kari Lake, amirite?

Kari Lake's policies appeal to the GOP base, so I don't really understand what your point is...
Also keep in mind that the primary electorate is different from that in the general election. The die-hards and wingnuts have outsized sway there.
