I believe that in some jurisdictions, men can be thrown in jail for not paying child support. Here in my country, men are compelled to pay, and they cannot refuse to pay on the grounds that their wives won't let them see the child.

To me this isn't right. If a man is under an obligation to pay child support, because they are his children, then he should also get visitation rights. His children are, well, his children, and by virtue of this, he is entitled to see them.

Either a man isn't on the hook for child support, in which he won't get to see his kids, or he is on the hook, in which case he should get to see his kids. The state and the wives shouldn't be able to have it both ways.

I think its about protecting children, not protecting what a father wants. Regardless of their ability to pay.

Someone could pay child support, but also not be a suitable person to get visitation.

been clear for a long time. yet people are still too complacent or stupid to understand.

I'm a single father accused of domestic violence went to court proven innocent. My daughters mother had started sh..t talking with the state to get help from dv advocate to help fix her car, find her a new place to live....etc. made it difficult when going to custody court. Spent 2 years fighting the courts over accusations proven false. EVIDENCE TO THE OPPOSITE. 2 YEARS OF PARENTING CLASSES.. ETC JUST to be where I should have been. I know the struggle and it's a fight. Meanwhile the child support is paid regardless. When we first started she even denied attempting to contact the visitation center. I had to go to court again to get her to comply or be held in contempt of a previous court order. Had to go to get more time with visitation, had to go to have family and friends be able to visit. It is a real struggle, and not every parent is bad for there kids. Sometimes the system is so out of whack it screws someone hard. I had to pay for visits almost $800 a month on top of child support. Pay for every report I had to turn into the court. Pay to file, pay too have the sheriff to serve her papers. But the struggle IS WORTH IT. Just remember it's all about your kids, not negative about mom/ dad or failures. I grew up in a broken home and by far all loved both parents. Every kid deserves the opportunity to see both parents even if supervised. But i understand the struggle. IF you ever need a listening ear, then I'm here. PRAYING for all the Dads and Moms out there in a nasty custody battle, where they don't cooperate for the kids sake. Co parenting takes 2 parents. If you ever want an ear I'm here.
