https://www.nytimes.com/2022/09/07/us/memphis-shooter.htmlSo with the dust settled
4 people are dead, 3 wounded, suspect in custody.
Two were shot in locations a few minutes apart. Then the suspect went on the road and shot and killed a man inside his car. Then he shot a woman in the leg while on the interstate, she survived. Then carjacked and murdered another woman, shooting her multiple times. Then shot and killed another woman and injured another man and carjacked another person. In one of the incidents he pretended to be injured while walking away from his crashed car, then shot and killed a good samaritan nurse who got out to help him.
In 2020 he was charged with two counts of attempted first degree murder in a shooting, but prosecutors let him plea down to a single aggravated assault chare and he was sentenced to 3 years in prison. And then he only served 11 months and was released from prison in March. So not only was he given a sweetheart deal, he didn't serve it anyway.
Still not clear if he was specifically targeting white people, seems like it
Also seems like a case where the death penalty is wholly insufficient.
