I'm moore intresed in your thoughts on cancel culture and celebritys trying to censor/ stop free speech.
I don't consider boycotting a platform that profits off of misinformation to be cancelling. The whole notion of having to consume a product made by people you dislike or else you are cancelling them seems entirely entitled to me. Also it works in reverse, nobody gave a fuck about Chik fil a because it is shitty food court mall food until it became politicized. This is more of an effect of news becoming entertainment products tailored to groups of people to sell ad space and political parties following suit and people treating them like sports teams.
What so many people consider cancellation just seems like consequence + entitlement. Imus got fired because he said fucked up racial things at the work...if I said a group of black co workers looked like a pack of gorillas and were nappy headed hoes i would be fired too, so why wouldn't they fire him? Or anyone else who does something stupid, like attack teenage girls over a smoothie like the most recent cancellation.
You can literally be in Congress and make death threats to coworkers and that is cool, you won't get cancelled or even disciplined.
Arizona didn't honor MLK day until the 90s or something, and it was because football was going to boycott them. Is that cancelling Arizona for being racist? It just not going where you aren't welcomed.
You know who got cancelled real fast? Kaepernick. Hypocrites complaining about cancel culture did that lol.
Can't take people who talk about cancel culture seriously the. They're nauseating and usually self victimizing somehow and they also love to cancel people.
How many people here are trying to cancel entire genders and then complain about cancel culture...literal idiots.
