Gov. Phil Murphy on Wednesday signed a new law banning businesses from handing out single-use plastic bags, polystyrene food containers, plastic straws and paper bags in New Jersey. The measure, which was passed by state lawmakers in September, is seen as the strictest stance against single-use plastics in the nation.

The new regulations prohibit food service businesses from giving customers single-use plastic bags and polystyrene food containers. The bans apply to a variety of businesses, including restaurants, convenience stores, food trucks, movie theaters and grocery stores that are 2,500 square feet or larger.

Grocery stores would be prohibited from giving paper bags to customers.

I've enjoyed watching boomers seethe about this one. One guy was like "well how am I supposed to buy groceries?" Another dude i work with complained about how they're recycable and refused to believe me when I told em our municipality explicitly says not to put them in recyclables. So what do you gamers think? Has the government gone too far this time? Is New Jersey officially the new california???

seems absurd a little bodega on the corner doesn't have to follow this new law

/e the value of 2400 sf commercial buildings in that area just rose dramatically as well

Just buy a reusable metal straw. Theyre better anyway.

Incentivization is what is needed.
Not more regulation.

I usually use the same bag (not from plastic) for months if not years.

This, but with plastic bags. I use them for many months on end. With the higher production cost/resource intensity of cloth bags, I'd have to use these for literally 4++ years to end up with a better environmental record than plastic ones.

they know plastic is more mold resistant and that paper feeds mold and metal resonates frequency.

end game is moldable or materials that are made from mold which can be biobarcoded or trackable w/ nano dust.
