I laughed ngl.

He means he doesn't want the poor brown people to be having all of the children and making 'white' people the minority. However, he also doesn't want to change our uncaring capitalist systems that have led to the necessities of dual income households, stagnating wages, & crumbling infrastructure that has made more and more people uninterested in having children. He also has no interest in having something dirty like taxation being used to address issues like housing, education, & climate change being used to address concerns of future potential parents.

Not very surprising given his history as the child of apartheid era mine owning parents.

Seriously, Musk should know better. the exact same thing happend in South Africa. Apartheid ended and it became Wakanda, no?

He right on two points and wrong on the third one:


- a too rapidly declining population is indeed a threat to civilization
- smart people having less children on average than dumb people is indeed a problem and creating dysgenic effects
- he is dead wrong when he says that the planet needs more people/doesn't need a reduction of its human population

The way I read his comments, he's not thinking about eugenics or racial balance or anything like that - he simply believes that reductionists are wrong and that a higher population would be good for humanity and the planet. Therefore, he laments good people making a conscious decision to have no kids, which is a relatively recent trend, particularly when it's justified with climate change anxiety.
