I have the conspiracy theory, its very simple, the "ACLU" doesn't exist, and hasn't for at least decades.
The first clue is right in the name, "A Clu", a clue that the ACLU is a figment of our collective imaginations.
I've gone looking for the ACLU, because I figured that if the Biden administration started raiding the homes of journalists and seizing their phones and records and compromising all their sources and confidential correspondences, an act that would violate everything the 1st amendment stands for and the explicit precedent set in 1971 New York Times Co. v United States- the freedom of the press to publish materials free of prior restraint- the ACLU would leap into action like a flock of winged valkyries descending upon the unjust. But all I've heard is silence. So when a team of ten FBI agents with a battering ram raid the apartment of a journalist, handcuff him and start digging through his files- and I remind you this happened in America, not China- I wonder if the ACLU actually exists. Especially when the specifically cited basis for their search warrant was listed as "
misprision of a felony, accessory after the fact and transporting stolen material over state lines", for the assertion that a journalist merely handled a diary without knowing its origin or authenticity, sought to confirm it and return it to its source, and then decided not to publish it due to it being unverified- all without any allegation of being involved in any actual crime nor there being any evidence presented of theft.
Apparently this supreme court case actually happened, according to history books, some few decades ago;
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_York_Times_Co._v._United_StatesBut I think that's just one part of a false trail of imaginary evidence, evidence which has been fabricated solely to con people into believing that there exists some civil liberties organization in America that represents our fundamental freedoms.
So I went out searching for more clues. There's some apparently fake group, presenting itself on twitter under
https://twitter.com/ACLU But that's clearly not the ACLU, because if the ACLU were real, somewhere in the past few days of tweets you would see righteous outrage and calls to action over the 1st amendment being repealed.
I dug through that wall and saw posts like "The Biden administration must fund community-based services for illegal aliens" and "Luc deserves respect — and so do trans youth everywhere." and "Tell your Senators: Pass the Women’s Health Protection Act NOW."
As far as I can tell, its just some bot account retweeting stuff from the DSA
