Anyone have very recent statistics on divorce rates during the pandemic?

I could only find one from May 2020, nothing more recent, and it's from nypost, a crap website...

I personally know two people who've gotten divorced recently. It seems to be skyrocketing. :(

i’d assume it wont skyrocket but that is because it isn’t feasible for many to split during a pandemic. constricted incomes and finding a new place to live and all that. but it certainly is a time that will make or break most relationships.

Domestic abuse and suicide are on the rise. I figure if lockdowns hang tight for just a while longer, most marriages that're snapping over constant proximity will resolve themselves without a need for divorce.

well, during the pandemic, couple spend much more time together than usual.. and it's during that time when they realize they aren't compatible... irreparable damage occurs... so they split up... it's mostly young couples though... they didn't have enough time to solidify their relationship before the pandemic hit which put a lot of stress on their young relationship and they weren't ready for it...

yeah this is happening too because of the pandemic :( before it hit, schools were a way for the children to escape their abusive father or mother... but now, these poor children are with their parent(s) 24/7... the same is true for women being with their abusive husbands 24/7 (or sometimes men with abusive wives, although not as common..) ...

Interesting phrasing. I don't tend to blame people without dealing with the case by case basis. Why? I'm fully aware of children butchering parents in their sleep. I'm fully aware of wives killing husbands, husbands killing wives, and everything in between. You're seeking to cast a judgement. My post was literally about how lockdowns keep people closeted in to a point where they're going insane enough to kill each other, and you come back with... Uh... Children escaping abuse? Children are insufferable shits and if you go back just a few dozen years, abuse was the socially acceptable cure for their shittiness.

You're a soft piece of garbage.

If you can't handle the pandemic, you shouldn't have gotten married in the first place.

In general, I agree.

But I'm married. I actually know what that means.

"Strengthened"? So you're not locked down. Good to know.

When you're locked in with your spouse day after day for a year with no end in sight, we'll see.
