But we have a problem here: 1/3 of americans voted for Drump... 47% of voters And..

- Democrats have no need for more voters immediately, maybe in 2022. Meaning they should keep a divided Republican party.
- 2 weeks left only, so both parties could play the clock without losing the face. But then Trump could run again in 2024 !

If they can make it happen quickly, it’s worth it. Why let the unstable mad man continue to have access to any power when he has done nothing but prove he cannot be trusted with it for the last 4 years? It’s not pointless, it’s a necessary precaution.

He won't, unless he does something even more universally heinous. Pence still has a political career and removing the trumpsters dear leader would be political suicide for him. The only exception would be if trump tries something unthinkable like starting a last minute war, or assassination plots if his enemies exposed ect.

the deliberations alone would likely take a week to set up and do, it is still almost 100% sure to fail in senate even after yesterday.

This pretty much. Also, for the purpose of not starting even more mayhem and unrest, waiting out the last 2 weeks of Trump's presidency is probably a better idea than pouring gas on the fire by removing him from office prematurely.

Maybe it's an advantage to let the procedure to timeout so republicans keep their Orange embarassement...
If Trump is barred from running again Republicans can reorganize and promote a new Trump, smarter one.

I think the procedure would then fail at senate or timeout. Not sure.
