veterans day isnt for a single war, its for all wars, and even for veterans who served in peace time or unofficial combat roles.

my step dad was a cook in the navy on an aircraft carrier during peace time. and its still a day for him.

For WW1? Those died a while ago. We don't have many WW2 vets left unfortunately. Hell, even the Korean War vets are kicking the bucket in large numbers.

In the US:

Armed Forces Day - for those currently in uniform.
Veterans Day - for those no longer in uniform.
Memorial Day - for those that never took it off.

Would be redicolous if you had a veterans day for each single war

sure people learn about WW2 and the Civil war, but the Korean war is glossed over and Vietnam is just instructed as a mistake and wrapped into the cold war as a footnote.
