If someone was looking to purchase property and did not need to be around a big city, do you have areas of the state you would recommend?

I need to be close to mountains and the ocean so no thanks.

My wife has been insisting that we move to Texas for almost 2 decades. I'm not moving to Texas. Maybe it's a nice place to live, and it probably is much less expensive than Minnesota, but all my people are here.

Any Texans have reasons not to live there?
