So let me introduce PARD to the story of Jerry Cox and his attorney Marc Angelucci

For several years, 48 year old Jerry Cox of Mariposa County California operated the Bison Creek Ranch.
In november of 2015, he met a woman named Ashley Harris on a "Farmers Only" dating website and invited her to the ranch. They and another left to go to a local bar off Highway 49 and had some drinks together Harris later accused Jerry Cox of forcibly raping her and holding her captive in the ranch for two days. The next day, Cox was arrested and charged with 15 felonies and his name and face plastered over the media as a story about a white farmer who built a rape cave for kidnapping women.
Almost immediately, the story fell completed apart. Harris had put makeup on her eyes to make it look like she was bruised, had lied to cops about having drinks at the bar in front of numerous witnesses, and when police seized her cell phone, they found numerous text messages sent by her in that span asking when Cox was coming back to the ranch, saying she missed him and acting like a spurned lover. The dating website and emails showed them coordinating her visit 3 weeks earlier with myriads of texts, calls and emails. Basically, he stuck his dick in crazy.

Despite the complete lack of evidence in the case and obvious signs of a false allegation, Cox faced a $500,000 bond and had enough felony charges to imprison him for life hung over his head- rape, kidnapping, criminal threats, battery, great bodily harm, etc. He accused the Mariposa County authorities of failing to collect or destroying exculpatory evidence in the case- including deleting 160 text messages from her cell phone while it was in possession of law enforcement, posts on her facebook page that were deleted while law enforcement had seized control of it. He says he repeatedly faced death threats from anonymous people in the public after the media aired stories accusing him of operating a rape dungeon.

Then in the winter of 2016 to 2017, the Bison Creek Ranch was seized from Jerry Cox and placed into a receivership under state control. To justify this, the state argued that the property was in violation of codes and regulation. He was given no estimate of the costs for a rehabilitation plan and only 30 days allowed to bring the property up to code, which counted down including the christmas and new years holidays and while he was fighting motions in the criminal case that still hadn't gone to trial. The application for the state's receivership order directly cited the rape allegations and search warrants against Jerry Cox without any of the exculpatory evidence. Even with only 30 days to make his repairs, Jerry Cox did so at the cost of $8000. Despite this, the court would not allow evidence to be presented at his receivership court date of repairs actually being completed or code violations being nonexistent in the first place, and seized his property from him and put it into the state's control. There was no trial or even an evidentiary hearing allowed, all motions for witnesses or evidence or cross examination or discovery denied, and he was taken off his lands. The county then took 10 months just to take bids on the alleged repairs needed that they had given him only 30 days to fix, and then requested $257,000 for repairs while statements from contractors brought out to provide an estimate said it would cost between $8000 and $13000. Several parts of the application to seize his property were blatantly deficient, including citing disrepair of a bridge that was actually on a fire break easement and owned by the state of california- they even said it couldn't hold sufficient weight for firefighting vehicles in their filing, while Cox provided a youtube video of fire trucks going over the bridge during the Detwiler Fire, and a statement from CAL FIRE saying they had inspected it and found no violations. Despite those deficiencies, the orders were rubber stamped by the judge and motions to point out flaws were denied

In August of 2017, the Mariposa County abruptly dropped all criminal charges against Jerry Cox. It took two years to clear his name of the false rape allegations, but his ranch remained seized by the state.
Enter Marc Angelucci, vice-president of the National Coalition For Men, one of the most high profile men's rights activists.
Marc Angelucci took up Jerry Cox's case as an example of the persecution a man faced over false rape allegations and represented his him in his legal proceedings against the receivership. Angelucci is a high profile attorney who is known for bringing a suit last year challenging the male-only draft and winning at the District Court level with a summary judgment in his class action saying the male-only registration violates the due process clause of the constitution- currently bouncing around at the appellate courts. He also sued to open rape and domestic abuse shelters to male victims when the state was only allowing women in them, and had ongoing civil rights cases against California's Child Protective Services. And notably, Marc Angelucci had major screentime in the documentary film "The Red Pill" about the Mens Rights movement

By this point, a formerly successful rancher was now reduced to living on food stamps, unable to return to his property, which was neglected under the receivership with most of the livestock dead or sold, equipment broken or sold and no funds to rehabilitate the damage caused under state control. Having Angelucci take up his cause meant he started to win his legal filings against the state, and was now on the offensive and seeking $2.4 million in damages in civil suits for the burden the state had imposed. The volunteer legal team from the NCFM first tore down a restraining order the county had imposed and won an order for legal fees from his false accuser

The Federal court recently denied one of the County’s motions to dismiss, and the Federal judge strongly highlighted the injustice, stating:

“The foregoing facts make it hard to credit the County Defendants’ statement that “the County’s only interest in the [] Property has been, at all times, to ensure that the violations of law upon it are remedied to protect the health and safety of the occupants, the neighbors, and the surrounding community.” The relatively sparse inspection history described in the Warrant declarations seems to contradict the assertion that the Property had been “the focus” of code enforcement efforts “since at least 2008” and raises obvious questions about the expansive scope of the Warrant (which included not just buildings but also all “vehicles … compartments, drawers, cabinets, papers, and electronic files located on the [] Property”). The notion that Cox could have repaired all 101 “dangerous violations” set forth in the N&O in a 30-day period that included Christmas and New Year’s Day strains credulity, particularly since the County’s expert receiver was still collecting bids 10 months after the Receivership commenced and was apparently still working on repairs well into the first quarter of 2019. And it is unsettling, to say the least, that the aggressive code enforcement activity evidenced by the record in this action coincided with the County’s failed criminal case against Cox.”

And recently, in one of the appeals, a dissenting judge called on the legislature to address this and stated:

“Appellant ultimately lost its property not because of any ongoing dangerous condition or public safety concern, but because it cannot afford the hundreds of thousands of dollars associated with the involuntary receivership imposed by the government. When all is said and done, appellant lost hundreds of acres of private property and will likely end up with nothing to show for it. … what process is due before the government can force the sale of private property for which all dangerous conditions have been remedied?”

Angelucci adds, “Worse, it appears Judge Walton, Adams, the law firm Silver & Wright, law enforcement officers, and high-ranking county employees may all be involved with driving Mr. Cox from his home and livelihood. Receivership, simply put, can be a scam. And it’s happening to thousands in California. This is an underregulated industry that is circumventing the Constitutional right to due process through receivership. It absolutely needs to be addressed by the court and legislature before it hurts more people.”

Angelucci was taking the case all the way up the district courts and planning to not just exonerate his client and win compensation, but strike down the unregulated system of receivership as unconstitutional.

Authorities received a call for help from inside the residence at 4 PM and arrived to find him shot to death and unresponsive.
The sheriffs have no suspect and no motive

There's lawyers and there's lawyers. Because he was a male victim of a false rape allegation and pillory by media, he got a high powered pro bono lawyer, like how the family of every black kid who gets shot by police can get a legal team they'd never be able to afford
The difference is, nobody ever shot Benjamin Crump to death in his front yard

There is a bar. Some clear the bar by an inch, some by a foot.

Anyone who can clear the bar can help you most of the time.

He would have a huge lawsuit paying him out.

A big part of the issue here is that he was denied any legal process at all. What good is a lawyer if you're not allowed to present a legal argument in the first place? His only recourse was to sue the state for violation his constitutional rights because of the very law being unconstitutional. They could seize private property by making allegations against the owner without giving the owner any opportunity to address them. What would a lawyer do at that point?
He might still get that big lawsuit paying him out, but Marc Angelucci won't be carving any more notches in the win column for the Mens Right's movement
