AOC is battling it out for the Democratic Primary today.

I honestly believe that since she has such a high number of followers and popularity that she will likely run as an independent if she doesn't get the Democratic Primary regardless.

But still, fingers crossed her opponent, Caruso-Cabrera wins.

She seems like a much more moderate option based on what I've heard about her from others and the brief information that I read about her.

AOC is a fund raising machine, and she gives the Dems street cred. They fuck up if they try to primary away who has basically become the soul of the democratic party.

Oh she will definitely be hard to beat. She's raised a lot of money and she has the microphone to get her messages out.

I think if she loses, it could be telling of the general Democratic public wanting to move away from the more progressive stance and move back closer to something that is more appealing to moderates.

AOC is infinitely popular amongst the youth, however, we also know historically the youth don't always have the best voter turnout. Should be interesting.

Yeah, I think she has become such a high-profile figure that she cant easily be primaried anymore. Still, AOC essentially being "the soul of the Democratic party" is exactly what's wrong with the Democratic party these days.
In the long run, this direction might prove disastrous for the party. They're just lucky they're running against a super polarizing incumbent whose political instincts are extremely hit or miss, and who's dragged down by huge external crises. But this doesnt mean that they can safely go down the "AOC route".
