Its pretty hard to say that racism is dead when there is a statue to a guy pretty much only known for his racism, lynching encouragement and violent death trying to murder a business rival and people want to it to be rebuilt?

Great thread but statues are minor targets. How about the Sydney opera house, that ridiculously expensive white man's expressionistic building that's such an eyesore in the harbor and obviously discriminates against poor aboriginals.

To me it seems that this thread's #1 purpose is supporting the taking down of statues by rage mobs and attacking authorities that want to restore the pieces of art taken down by said rage mobs.

Whether or not a statue / work of art / cultural heritage should be taken down is up to the authorities, it's not up to rage mobs to decide that.

I am asking why it is being rebuilt i said nothing about it being torn down, and i care not for your "authorities" nor do i recognise them as anything more than the most powerful group of thugs.

It's a big symbol of their history, he's representing his people, his past.
Not sure which one is worse in-between violence, racism, bigotism, christianity imposture, [and country music, later]



Maybe add notes -at the bottom- of the statue, explaining what is wrong with such guy (and probably the whole "south"), this could be fair.

Well, I don't care for far left rage mobs who clearly are far worse thugs than the authorities.

I'd say for starters authorities should cut power and water to CHAZ / CHOP and let these jobless far left substance abusers fend for themselves perhaps they grow some notion of how the world actually works.
