A Mexican-American man who was fired after being accused of flashing a “white power gesture” says he was merely cracking his knuckles, prompting demands that he be given his job back and a retraction from his accuser.

Emmanuel Cafferty was recently terminated from his position at a San Diego utility company after an encounter with a stranger some two weeks ago. Stopped at an intersection, the stranger snapped a photo showing Cafferty in his truck with an arm hanging out of the window. The picture was promptly shared to Twitter, where it was alleged the man had flashed a symbol some associate with white supremacy – known to everyone else as the ‘OK’ sign.

Though Cafferty appears to be making an entirely different gesture in the grainy photo, the image soon made its way back to his employer at San Diego Gas and Electric (SDG&E). The company fired him after a few days of deliberation, claiming it “took appropriate action.”

hope Mr. Emmanuel Cafferty sues the absolute daylights out of the company that fired him for malice, slander and libel, and violation of Civil Rights by firing him based on race. yeah that last one may be a stretch, but so is firing him for this.

I'm thinking they should set their sights on masks next. It actually sets up perfectly. Georgia's old anti-mask law (which was designed as an anti-KKK measure) sets a perfect precedent for the white supremacists to align themselves with mask usage.

Pepe is not racist, the creator has SUED people for using it in a racist manner and before the alt right nerds who cant meme started using it in 2010 no one associated it with racism, they are just taking it back.

The word "white" (to describe a group of ethnicities) is a direct result of racism itself, and its meaning has always been "anyone whose race we like". E.g. back when there was constant hate against Italians and Irishmen, those people were not considered to be "white". Now that nobody has a problem with them anymore, they're suddenly white.
It's won't be surprising when Hispanics are included in the "white" label sooner or later.
