Jesus... you guys call yourselves a political forum.

Though I'm not surprised... a CIA sponsored coup probly isn't huge news in America. Better keep it on the down low in case the people realise their govt continues to overthrow democratically elected socialist governments.

The people are fighting back though... and this federale is fucking shitting herself.

As she should be.

Morales resigned amid serious voting irregularities.

He has also been in power for over a decade.

Guy might want to resign without having to leave Boliva...he is a farmer with roots there.

He already applied for, and was granted, asylum in Mexico.

I'm still upset with Bolivia for shooting Robert Redford and Paul Newman, just for robbing banks in Bolivia.

Former dictators rarely have good retirement plans.

Morales seems like he was a quiet but popular leader whi enjoyed a lot of support. First indigenous president of Boliva, not an incredible crook or strongman like most in the region, but enough of those things to survive South American politics and have allies in the end.

Run, Evo, keep your head, lol.

Morales rigged elections after stacking the Supreme Court in order to throw out term limits that he couldn't get overturned by referendum. The people were tired of him, and he couldn't accept it.

No surprise that this is the take of our resident Pravda enthusiast.

The "CIA-backed coup" accusations seem to be entirely based on whether the individual making the accusation agrees with the politics of the leader ousted. Whether it be Ukraine or Venezuela... there's no real evidence presented of CIA involvement, it's just the assumption of critics of US foreign policy that we have our hand in every regime change around the world.

Last year, Bolivia's top electoral court accepted Morales' candidacy for a fourth term despite a constitutional ban and referendum against such re-election. Elections for the next five-year presidential term are set for October.

That may not be just smoke and mirrors: https://www.en24.news/news/2019/11/10/bolivia-audios-leaked-from-opposition-leaders-calling-for-a-coup-against-evo-morales.html

The SoundCloud audio in that link is in Spanish, but purports to link Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, and Bob Menendez to the opposition. Anyone fluent in Spanish that can provide insight or corroboration?
