Yea that's kinda fucked. If you are injured while in the line of duty your employer should be obliged to pay for your treatment. In the case of emergency services the public and the state are your employer so...

He actually makes bigger costs, since he isn't 18 yet and doesn't yet qualify for the incredibly cheap student loans atm. Atm students can loan at 0% interest here
