http://thehill.com/homenews/administration/349095-trump-to-end-daca-with-6-month-delay-report

Trump announces to let DACA law lapse. Currently, children of Illegal immigrants can apply for expedited citizenship if they have no criminal record. Without the protections, deportations are presumed to happen. This may be just for show, but based on ICE/Immigration and Customs Enforcement activity in recent months, this is unlikely.

As far as optics, this puts our country very clearly in the right direction on the issue of immigration. In a market with natives that are facing drastic underemployment problems, this will remedy the problem at the source. Third world immigrants are not contributing to our way of life and this will decrease their hindrance.

It will also do so in a humane manner, allowing six months for readjustment, etc.

Feel free to share your thoughts, in support or otherwise.

Any immigration action that doesn't target employers is just for show

Total nonsense. Deporting the children of illegals isn't an effective way to help American citizens get better jobs, and most of these people do contribute to America.

A valid criticism.

That's funny. They don't contribute to social security or any other valid state funds.

Truth be told, illegal immigrants cost the US $100 billion in laundered services, usually state and local services that the federal gov't takes responsibility for, and that is while taking into consideration the laffer curve. They are a scourge, and the US will be better when they are gone.

Unless their leadership uses the 6 month phase out to pass it into law, they just alienated enough moderate Republicans to lose in 2020.

So they aren't totally screwed, unless the freedom caucus snakes strike at the party's heels again.

I still don't understand why these "Dreamers" don't want to become citizens of the United States.
It's like they don't want the parts of the US that they disagree with...they only want the education and the jobs.

I don't even understand why this is an issue. If you don't want to do w/e is necessary to become a citizen, then go find education and jobs elsewhere.

/e Is there something I'm missing. Do you (these days) have to cut off an arm or sign over your first born child to become a citizen.

its actually a clever move by trump: this is an issue that indeed should be handled by congress, not by the white house. by deciding to end the current program with a time window for congress to act, he forces congress to come up with the solution that they have refused for so long.

a broad amnesty put into law by a republican congress would indeed by "republican suicide". I assume the white house is fully aware of this fact and uses it for leverage against the party establishment, who is in favour of amnesty on a policy-level, but knows that they will shoot themselves in the foot politically if they go through with this.

trump's move forces congress to either follow his line of ending DACA completely, or to pass a very restrictive and narrow amnesty which doesnt create a dangerous precedent for the future.

The fuck? don't want to? christ... Yes there's something you're missing. Quite a bit of something. It some cases it does require an arm and a leg to become a citizen. Also DACA recipients cannot become citizens.
A bipartisan effort started a bill (DREAM act) that would've gave them the avenue to become citizens, it was worked on by both sides and would've passed but republicans said no.
