A good universal healthcare system provided by the government with the option to go private is a great system and we use it here with much lower cost per head. However, countries with universal healthcare systems are a lot smaller than the US. Something tells me it could be a logistical nightmare if the US went down that route.
Start by reducing Pharma lobbying power, that'll lower the cost of drugs and should have a knock on effect to premiums.
Honestly, I don't think it can be any more of a logistical nightmare than the pre-Obamacare system. Highest spending in the world and like 34th in quality. Abysmal.
