For those who are in the dark on this, the 7 Year Great Tribulation is a time prophesied throughout the bible, where total chaos will break loose on the earth, just prior to the end of the age. At this time, Jesus will return, and the common view is that He will "Rapture" His followers off the planet as the final judgements commence.

The views on this vary, though most biblical scholars say that there will be a "Secret Coming" of Jesus before the "Second Coming and Judgement"

Pre-Tribulation believers often suggest passages like these to support the common view of Jesus collecting His people before the horrible events of the 7 year tribulation:

Quote
1 Thessalonians 4

16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

On the flipside, Post-tribulation believers cite passages such as this:

Quote
Matthew 24

But immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: 30and then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31And he shall send forth his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

Quote
Revelation 7:14

And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

Then there are the people who believe Jesus will return midway through the Tribulation period.

I wanted to post this just to get a rough idea on it, since we can't make polls in the Christian subforum, this was the only real place to do it.

*Side-Note (Another thought)

Quote
Revelation 14:

1 And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with him 144,000, having his Father's name written in their foreheads.

2 And I heard a voice from heaven, as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of a great thunder: and I heard the voice of harpers harping with their harps:

3 And they sung as it were a new song before the throne, and before the four beasts, and the elders: and no man could learn that song but the 144,000, which were redeemed from the earth.

4 These are they which were not defiled with women; for they are virgins. These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth. These were redeemed from among men, being the firstfruits unto God and to the Lamb.

There it talks about the 144,000 being the firstfruits. Some believe that this 144,000 will be raptured, but the rest of the Christians will be left to endure until the end of the tribulation.

You're bad for humanity and you should feel bad.

I'm fairly certain the rapture will never occur.

In fact, I would bet everything I own on it.

Odds are really good that it doesn't occur in your lifetime.

Isn't it true that the idea of Rapture didn't even exist until the 18th century?

Rapture is not a Biblical concept.

most of what we believe about the bible today is a modern concept.
