It's true that Christians are less self-reliant than others, simply because they turn to the external for guidance, rather than the internal.
For me, self-reliance is very important. You must trust, love, and accept yourself before you can trust, love, and accept others. Christians, by their very nature, cannot truly love and accept themselves, as they believe sin is inherent
within them; it is because of this perceived sin that Christians cannot trust in themselves completely. For this reason, I believe that several Christians are not capable of genuine love. If one cannot love, then he or she lacks all strength.
This is of course not applicable to all Christians, but is applicable to the radicals and fringe believers.
