It's not so much about the climate stuff, or that I'm particularly keen of Gore. But with him as president in 2000, I'm pretty sure that there won't be an invasion of Iraq, which was really the first domino which kicked off a chain reaction across the entire region. Probably no Arab spring, no Syrian civil war, no European refugee crisis, thus no Brexit, less Iranian influence in the region, and so on and forth.
Domestically, a Gore presidency pushes back the timeline for Obama by at least 8 years. I assume that he would always have become president eventually, but maybe he'd have been a better president with more age and maturity. And chances are that Hillary becomes the first Dem nominee after Gore, because without the Iraq War as an issue to distinguish himself from her, Obama never beats her during that first primary. Either way, no Obama presidency before 2016 at the absolute earliest also means no Trump presidency. And on the other side of the aisle, no GWB presidency presumably also means that the GOP doesn't end up as morally, ideologically and politically bankrupt as it eventually did during the 2006-2014 timeframe.
