The Ukraine-US summit in Jeddah has produced a Ukrainian ceasefire proposal for 30 days, an actual ceasefire along the entire front and all hostilities rather than just the stuff Russia is winning at.
This is the first time Ukraine has agreed to a ceasefire since the war started, and now its up to the Russian response

"Ukraine expressed readiness to accept the US proposal to enact an immediate, interim 30-day ceasefire, which can be extended by mutual agreement of the parties, and which is subject to acceptance and concurrent implementation by the Russian Federation," the joint US-Ukrainian statement read, released after the talks in Jeddah.

Quote
If the Russian side agrees to the conditions of a complete ceasefire "not only with regard to missiles, drones and bombs, not only in the Black Sea, but also along the entire frontline," the Ukrainian leader added, "the silence will take effect at that very moment."
"Ukraine is ready for peace. Russia must also show whether it is ready to end the war — or continue it. The time has come for the whole truth," Zelenskyy concluded.
Meanwhile, the Trump administration said Tuesday that it would immediately lift its suspension of military support to Ukraine and its intelligence sharing with Kyiv.
The 180-degree shift on the two issues came more than a week after imposing the measures to push Zelenskyy into negotiations that could lead to a peace deal with the Kremlin.

This marks a pretty huge development at ending the war, because as late as yesterday the official Ukrainian position was still fighting to the bitter end, refusing to propose anything but one-sided ceasefires aka Russia surrendering
So now the ball is officially in Putin's court, Russia must either accept terms or abandon their pretense of the high ground.

There's also a predictable third path where Russia will try to come up with ways to delay and string along negotiations. Right now it appears the urgency stems from rapid Russian advances in Kursk- there is a huge risk of an immediate breakout and encirclement, where Russia can not only seize a huge number of Ukrainian POWs and a considerable chunk of their military but also take away the one negotiating card Ukraine has. That factor is probably what drove Ukraine to make this pitch at this time in such a drastic 180 turn, and now Russia has to choose between peace, war or pretense.

How many times is Russia to take the 'High Road' only to get burned?

What are the incentives for Russians to accept a ceasefire to allow Ukraine to be resupplied, regroup and let Ukranians get their forces out of a disastrous encirclement in Kursk?

There are no timeouts in war. Ukraine either capitulates, which means announcing a withdrawal from the four oblasts, or the war continues--and Putin may add a few more oblasts.

Ukraine just flew everything they had into Moscow apartment blocks and like you pointed out they're being kicked out of Kursk as we speak no wonder Zelensky would like a cease fire.

I'd say the Russians gonna point out (again) that Zelensky isn't in a position to sign a cease fire because of the law he signed that forbids negotiations with the Russians and that's gonna buy them enough time to clean up Kursk (at the very least)

Agree they are winning so what is the incentive to halt advances in south Donetsk or Kursk?

Asking for a time out after you’re wobbled in a fight obviously favors the losing side, the thing Russia cares about is what happens during the 30 days and afterwards. Are the Euros scrambling to ship weapons? Are the Ukrainians digging trenches around Pokrosk or other areas?

They will use this time to re arm and refresh because why wouldn’t they? and if Russia says no optically the fault is on Russia and Ukraine can say see they aren’t serious about peace. Idk maybe I’m being pessimistic and it’s actually the start of something real.

No you are absolutely right because Trump Immediately declared after Ukraine 'Agreed' to a 30 day cease fire that weapons, intelligence, and supplies from the United States would immediately start to flow again.
I cannot even find out if Ukraine signed the 'Mineral deal' or if it was really Trump who got played and had no cards.
Either way the "Mineral Deal" Trump touted was absolutely retarded to begin with, and we are right back to where we were when Joe Biden was in office, only now under the false premise of some carrot at the end of a stick.
