This is wild. I am 37 years old and as long as I’ve been old enough to vote I have NEVER seen an accomplishment of this magnitude done so fast after a very heated dispute.

If by already planned you mean in December? Yes. Some things before then were in place but around December is when the more hardline stuff was added. They knew this was coming. It was a major talking point of the US Election. Trump threatened them long before he even won if you watched any of the debates.

(December 18th is when that article was updated to be exact.)

I’d like to add Canada’s cooperation is not as much of an issue as their timely implementation. We need it NOW. Immediately.

It’s face saving talk. Canada currently has 8500 frontline patrolmen. (Or did prior to 2025)So if they have 10k now it’s definitely new.
