Over the weekend star wide receiver and Miami Dolphin Tyreek Hill was detained on his way to the stadium.

He was initially pulled over for what police cite as reckless driving. and police noticed he also wasnt wearing a seatbelt.

the second he rolls his window down he's combative, which is his right. his first mistake however was rolling his window back up, especially because it has such a dark tint.

in this scenario its entirely acceptable for police during a traffic stop to demand he leave his window down, for their safety. what follows however is a mess.

in a matter of 5 seconds or under he's told "keep the window down"...."or i'll get you out of the car"...."matter fact get out the car"....."open the door".

then a 2nd officer barges in, opens the door, pulls tyreek out, and pushes him to the ground. not an assault, but too aggressive and too fast to be in line with training guidelines.

later in the stop he's given about 1 second to sit down before he's pushed into sitting on the curb. the same aggressive officer goes on to threaten and give conflicting commands to tyreek's team mates who pulled over.

as we often see in these situations legal but unadvisable behavior sets off the most aggressive officer in the bunch, who then goes on to escalate the situation without any other officers stepping in to deescalate. all it would take is one cool headed officer, and there were several present, asking the clearly agitated officer to clear the perimeter or step off to contact dispatch for a superior officer on site. there was a crowd gathering and someone needed to do that anyways. instead they all sit back and allow a cop to stay hot even while the suspect is in cuffs and danger is off the table.

unfortunately we dont have video of tyreeks driving which apparently prompted the stop, as cams seem to trigger on once they initiate the stop.

tl;dr guy in a wife beater swerving lanes gets pulled over in a mclaren with blacked out windows, on the cell phone during the stop tries to roll up windows. lazily responds to lawful but aggressive commands, and overzealous officer escalates the situation well above what is warranted.

An understandable part about the paranoia of cops approaching a vehicle is they are alone, or with only one other person. There were several cops there, they are approaching a vehicle worth a lot of money, so the reaction no longer makes sense. It's not a honda civic with blacked out windows.

The cop was used to dealing with other circumstances, and he failed to adjust to this circumstance.

if you saw tyreek hill in a mcclaren, and you didnt know who tyreek was, and you're a cop, you'd be a fool to not at least suspect a stolen vehicle. sorry, i'd say the same if a white trash trailer park looking dude was behind the wheel of a million dollar car and was swerving lanes without a seatbelt on.

there is zero issue even per the most PC cop guidelines in that situation for suspecting the vehicle could be stolen, and asking for the tinted window to remain down. what followed did not at all adhere to even conservative cop guidelines for a stop, no police union in the nation would justify pulling someone from a vehicle 2 seconds after asking them to get out and after you rip open the door.

You see 1 hotheaded officer with several level headed ones, but the reality is there's 1 hotheaded officer and several officers allowing him to do whatever he wants. That's hardly giving the rest of them any credit when they were complicit

Sounds like the police were being cool with him, and had the right to arrest him for going 30 over or greater, and instead of going along with getting a couple of tickets, or explaining why he shouldn't get tickets, he decided to be a dickhead about it.

Oh, the cops adjusted to the circumstances at the end when they realized who they were dealing with; that they had arrested a legit NFL superstar who would have money, legal support and public opinion on his side if this situation escalated any further.

They shifted from "respect my authoritah!!!1"-mode into "haha, this was all just a good ol' misunderstanding, let's shake hands and be friends again" real quick, didn't they? Pathetic.

Nah, they had every right to arrest him in the first place for doing double over.
They were being cool with him and probably were just going to Issue him a very big ticket, but he copped an attitude.
All he had to do was keep his mouth shut, and speak as little as possible and everyone could of gone their separate ways.
