https://www.cbsnews.com/news/house-gop-bill-israel-aid-irs-budget-cuts/

In other news, the Republican House has suggested pairing Israeli aid with cuts to the IRS, such that the two offset. Personally, I'm torn. On the one hand, this does set a terrible precedent, if the spending is necessary it should be spent whether funding exists or not. On the other hand, "we'll find the cuts later" has clearly failed to an egregious extent.

No more printing money. If funding is necessary (and is), cut back on the pork.

The bill comes due

We need to look at how much waste exists. I think geopolitical uses especially when there are immediate benefits involved are a better use of our dollars

But we really should be evaluating waste

Also fuck the irs

This.

I don't understand why the US government feels the need to give money to other nations for doing pretty much nothing. Use all that money to improve the welfare of Americans. A novel idea, I know.

Sucks to be them. After decades and decades of the world trading in the "petrodollar" the US Federal Reserve was able to turn paper into the single largest military on Earth and helped fund the dark projects that advanced US Military capabilities to a place few can contemplate.

I always find it odd how they say the US is 30+ trillion in debt and those debts will come do.

Ask yourself who that money is "owed" too and whether they have a military capable of making us "do good" on our debts.

It's a fair question. Israel is our foothold in the Middle East, but at the same time it often ends up as a sort of one-sided trade.

Most USDs are owned domestically. Defaulting on our debt would be very bad for the American financial system specifically, which probably does contribute to the degree of global trust in USD.

I guess what I'm saying is that when SHTF the US Military is more then capable of "pulling a few strings"....

If it got really bad the average US citizen would still be fed even if it was rationed/ far less calories then the average "fat-so" American is used too.

I go down to the bear necessities of Water/Food/Shelter/Guns and I feel like America would fair better then most other 1st world nations.

When it gets so bad that the whole planet starts to starve that's where the US military will truly stand guard. We'd still eat the rest of the world would actually starve.

^^ is a worst case end of world scenario I'm talking about sorry!
