I think that's sane. I have my 5k budget as an effort-bar to see how much I want to put into it.
My most recent ones have been sold between 3-5k but when you say "obviously" not paying 4k for a sig, then to me that's a red flag of putting in effort, not because I am lazy, but because I have carpal tunnel syndrome which means it hurts to paint.
If nothing happens here I might attempt with 3,5k budget in mind.
